1st half of 16th C Swabian sculpture representing Saint Georges slaying the Devil. Sculpture to apply to the wall in polychrome and gilt linden wood. Dressed as a soldier with a large drape with flattened and circular flaps, rigth arm up (without his sword), left arm holding a shield decorated with a cross, he strongly expresses the figth between Good and Evil.

This iconography was particularly disseminated in the Holy Roman Empire.

17th C Italian mirror in gilt wood with its mercury silvering. It is richly carved with a decoration of acanthus leaves, festoons and laurel falls. The pediment shows a cartouche with a female profil flanked by 2 eagles with spread wings. The base is openwork with shell decoration.

Pair of ornemental motifs in carved and gilt wood. They are executed with  finesse and a lot of complications, with decoration of scrolls, ribbons, acanthus leaves and flowerets. In the center, a black leather, stuck on a round shape, emphasizes the gildings.

The presence of leather and the marked character of these sculptures make us think of Spanish 17th century Baroque.

Lamentation of the dead Christ, episode after the Descent from the cross and before the Entombment. Group in carved oak wood with slight traces of polychromy. The body of Christ is supported by Nicomede and Joseph of Arimathea while the apostle St John, as a sign of affection, holds his head. In the background, the Virgin (with hands together and eyes down) and a Holy Woman  are in prayer. Rhine work circa 1500.

Saint Peter as Supreme Pontiff. Late 16th C statue in carved and polychrome wood. Sit on his throne, he is wearing the tiara with the three crowns. He is dressed in a long tunic, the red papal stole with golden edges and, covering his shoulders, a wide cape held by a clasp. A painted vegetal decoration enriches the whole. Northern France work.

Saint Antony the Great. Early 17th C Statuette in carved walnut wood with traces of gilding and polychromies. Dressed as a monk (he is considered the father of monasticism), he wears a hood, the scapular and a rosary. His attribute, the T, is carved in relief on his left shoulder. His face, with marked features, is resolute. He has a long beard with wavy strands, thus affirmating his status as a hermit.

Late 16th C Virgin of Pity. Group in carved and polychrome walnut wood with traces of gilding. The Virgin has her son lying on her knee, she holds his arm, her sad face is turned towards him. She wears a large veil with wide pleats over the wimple. This composition gives the group its dramatic intensity. (From Spain ?)
