Lamentation of the dead Christ, episode after the Descent from the cross and before the Entombment. Group in carved oak wood with slight traces of polychromy. The body of Christ is supported by Nicomede and Joseph of Arimathea while the apostle St John, as a sign of affection, holds his head. In the background, the Virgin (with hands together and eyes down) and a Holy Woman are in prayer. Rhine work circa 1500.
