18th C Louis XV Console in gilt wood. It is richly carved in an openwork rocaille style with a decoration of acanthus leaves, shells, flower garlands and a dove on the top crossbar. Period marble top (morello cherry colour with fossil inlays). Corbin beak moulding with scalloped cutting fitting the curve of the top crossbars.

Standing on a rock, he carries a lamb on his left arm, the rigth one raised was probably holding a cross. He is dressed in a short tunic and a long cape worn across the body. His feet are bare and his face emaciated, symbolizing his life as a hermit. A St James shell hanging at the crossing of the folds refers to the famous pilgrimage.
