18th C Virgin of the Assumption. Polychrome and gilt wood. Brazilian baroque.

18th C Virgin of the Assumption in carved, polychrome and gilt wood. Work of Brazilian baroque.
18th C Virgin of the Assumption in carved, polychrome and gilt wood. Supported by 3 angels, with arms extended, richly dressed in a dress and a cape with bright colours and lively folds, looking towards the sky, she rises in the clouds.
Indigenous attributes in facial features as well as in black hair, long and smooth, lead us to think of a work of Brazilian baroque.
To be noted : the presence of a cavity in the back of the statue used as a reliquary.
