Sorrowful Virgin. Sculpture in walnut wood . From Italy. Circa 1600.
Sorrowful Virgin. Finely carved in walnut wood, she was probably part of a calvary. Her hands are folded. Her face, enclosed by the wimple, is turned towards the Christ on the cross. With its marked features, it expresses all its pain. She is wearing a dress and a veil coat with broken folds. A small cavity, dug in the back, was used as a reliquary.
