17th C Virgin and Child in carved wood. Dressed in a wide cloak with enlivened folds, she carries Christ leaning on her leg which she holds forward. This composition expresses a dynamic characteristic of the baroque style that corresponds to the return of triumphant Catholicism.

Pair of gilded and polychrome carved wood torchbearer angels. They hold a cornucopia with one hand, and the other hand is resting on their chest. Their youthful faces, with fine features, are covered with abundant hair. The ample clothing is as if animated by a breath in the spirit of the Baroque style.

Carved and gilded oak holy water stoup. It is richly decorated, with a leafy garland in the center surrounding the dove of the Holy Spirit descending from the clouds, winged cherub heads, a frame of branches and acanthus leaves and, at the bottom, a conch collecting holy water.

Verriau. Hanging cabinet for displaying collectible glassware. Designed as a miniature cabinet, it comprises 2 glass doors, a low drawer and a cornice in the shape of a “chapeau de gendarme”. Fine carvings adorn the crosspieces, the front of the drawer and the uprights (soup tureen, vine branches, ears of wheat, knotted ribbons, Provencal symbols associated with marriage).

A prie-Dieu for domestic use. The lower section consists of a cabinet with two doors surmounted by a flap. The recessed upper section supports a crucifix. The front is richly carved with perspectives on the doors, Corinthian columns, garlands of leaves, a winged cherub’s head and a notched “chapeau de gendarme” cornice.
All executed with great care and finesse.
The crucifix with ebony cross and ivory Christ is later (19th?).

Pair of carved wooden caryatide representing two characters from Greek mythology: Heracles and Athena (Hercules and Minerva for the Romans). Heracles in heroic nudity with his club and wearing the léonté (the skin of the lion of Nemea). Athena as goddess of war, armored and helmeted, equipped with a spear.
The whole was probably integrated into monumental woodwork or furniture of Italian palace of early 17th century.
