Saint Paul. 17th C Statuette in finely carved walnut wood. Richly dressed in an alb covered with a coat surmounted by the mozzetta, he holds the epistles with his left hand. The rigth hand probably held a sword, symbol of his martyrdom. According to tradition, he wears a beautiful very full beard, his head being rather bald.

18th C Louis XV console table. Curved on all sides, it stands on 4 arched feet. The whole is finely carved with openwork shells on the crossbars, cartouches and scrolls on the legs, every thing embellished with leafy foliage. The top, with scalloped cutting is moulded with a corbin beak.

Saint Barbara with the tower at her feet for attribute. Saint Catherine in princess clothes and holding the book of Scripture as a symbol of her faith.
The richness of drapes as well as the beauty of faces are typical of Austrian baroque and especially of the work of Dominikus Moling (1691-1761). A pair of statues, representing Saint Barbara and Saint Gertrude carved by this sculptor at the Diocesan Museum of Bressanone, are very similar and dated 1735-1740.

18th C Virgin and Child in carved, gilt and polychrome wood. Wearing a dress and a veil coat, she stands slightly leaning forward, the look on the faithful. The dressed child, with a distant look and sitting on his mother’s left arm, holds a sphere, symbol of his power on the world.

17th C Rare Alsatian credence with pediment. Pageantry furniture with rich architectural decoration. The central body, comprising 2 doors and 2 drawers, rests on an open niche ; it is surmounted by 2 steps and a pediment. The front, on a background of marquetry, is punctuated by fluted columns framing niches surmounted by winged heads of cherubs. In a baroque spirit, the pediment is decorated with carved grotesques emerging from the foliage.
Beautiful original wrought and engraved iron locksmithing.

Crowned Virgin and Child. Catalan work from late 15th century. Sold.
Crowned Virgin and Child. Statue in carved softwood with traces of polychromy. The Virgin, slightly off-balance, holds the dressed Child on her left arm with her right hand holding her coat. The faces, with fine features, express all the tenderness between the mother and her son.
The roughness of the folds and the type of crown lead us to think of a Catalan work from late 15th century.

Late 18th C marriage armoire (wardrobe) from Provence. It shows a beautiful carved decoration. The low crossbar is openwork with a lyre surrounded by oak leaves. The upper crossbar presents a couple of doves on a basket also filled with oak leaves with acorns. The central piece beetween the doors is carved on all its heigth with different symbols of the bonds of marriage and prosperity (knotted ribbon, ears of wheat, exploded pomegranates, fires of love).
Original ironwork with octogonal hinges, rack lock, cut iron keyholes.
