A prie-Dieu for domestic use. The lower section consists of a cabinet with two doors surmounted by a flap. The recessed upper section supports a crucifix. The front is richly carved with perspectives on the doors, Corinthian columns, garlands of leaves, a winged cherub’s head and a notched “chapeau de gendarme” cornice.
All executed with great care and finesse.
The crucifix with ebony cross and ivory Christ is later (19th?).
