Sedes Sapientiae. Virgin and Child Enthroned. Sitting on a throne-bench, she carries her son on her left lap. Her serene face, with regular features, cracks a smile. The Child is dressed as a man and holds the Book of Sacred Scripture. His mother’s hand on his shoulder, he has a distant look : he is God’s Son.
This group is carved from a piece of soft wood with ancient polychromy and a cavity back.
